Begin with the delivery window

Work backwards from the vessel’s receiving window. Account for collection, export handling, transport, destination processing and final delivery rather than comparing transit times alone.

Consider the shipment profile

Air freight can suit urgent or smaller shipments. Sea freight can suit larger cargo and planned replenishment. Actual suitability depends on routing, capacity, cargo restrictions and total delivery time.

Keep the supplier, vessel and receiving-agent information together in the shipment enquiry. When the itinerary changes, share the updated receiving window before dispatch so the route can be reviewed.

Keep the whole journey in view

Ask for a routing assessment that includes the final receiving point. A short international transit does not guarantee an earlier vessel delivery if documentation or local arrangements are incomplete.

Your next step

Prepare the cargo description, dimensions, weight, origin and vessel receiving deadline. Send those details to operations to start a shipment-specific discussion.
